GL Accountant (Contract-to-hire)

Client in Uptown is seeking an exceptional candidate for the role of General Ledger Accountant. This role will be responsible for assisting the account team with the monthly close process and ensuring their books are closed timely and accurately.

Responsibilities: 

• Assist in monthly close process
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
• Prepare monthly GL entries required to record the activities of the accounts being monitored
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts, including accrued liabilities, prepaids, deferred revenue, fixed assets, etc. Ensure all reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner
• Prepare monthly P&L analysis and provide explanations for variances
• Provide support for the annual audits performed by independent auditors and additional projects as assigned

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
• 3 years of general ledger experience is required
• CPA is required
• Experience with accounts payable and accrual process
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Prior experience with Accounting applications required, NetSuite experience a big plus
• Ability to problem solve and investigate discrepancies
• Familiar with accounting and GAAP principles
• Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, co-ordinate processes and manage multiple deadlines

Financial Reporting Manager (Chicago)

Accretive Solutions’ Executive Search Practice has been engaged by an excellent mid-sized, public company to recruit a Financial Reporting Manager to join their team, located in Downtown Chicago. Candidate must have 2+ years’ Audit Assurance experience with public clients straight out of Big 4 public accounting. Responsibilities: 

Prepares and submits regulatory reports. Assists in maintaining the Bank’s general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts, including preparing and posting adjusting journal entries throughout the month and closing journal entries as part of the month end close. Prepares daily and monthly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts through interpretation and analysis of underlying financial data.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepares schedules to support regulatory reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Reserve Bank and Federal Home Loan Bank that include, but are not limited to, quarterly reports on Form 10-Q, annual reports on Form 10-K, the quarterly Call Report, FR Y-9C, FR Y-9LP, FR Y-8 and Qualified Collateral Reports.
• Prepares and analyzes financial statements on a monthly basis, including income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows.
• Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and bank procedures.
• Documents business transactions.
• Supervises assigned staff positions on a day-to-day basis
• Prepares and posts general ledger journal entries to Prologue, the accounting software.
• Interprets and analyzes financial information posted to general ledger accounts.
• Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports. Includes month end expense analysis.
• Researches balance sheet items and income/expense fluctuations utilizing various systems and information sources.
• Effectively communicates with other bank departments in order to obtain necessary information to accurately resolve open items on a timely basis.
• Executes ad hoc projects as assigned by manager.

Requirements: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2+ years' Big 4 experience
• Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly MS Excel, MS Word, and Access Databases
• Familiarity with Prologue, Fiserv Signature and Call Reporter Premier is advantageous
• Ability to work well under deadlines
• CPA Preferred, but Not Required
• This position interacts with several different areas of the company on a daily basis and requires a high level of organization, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ideal candidate should enjoy working in a team environment, and have an interest in learning the financial reporting processes of a multi-billion $ financial institution.
