Accounting Manager- Special Projects

Accretive Solutions’ Executive Search Practice, now a part of RGP, has been engaged by an excellent not-for-profit company to recruit an Accounting Manager – Special Projects to join their team, located in Denver. They are looking for a CPA with Big 4 accounting and industry experience. This position will run all project initiatives for the team and will focus on process improvements. Also this person will be a technical accounting resource for the team. The position: The position will assume a leadership role as project manager representing the Accounting function on a number of key corporate projects. In addition, this position will fill in for certain key Accounting roles when staff members are absent or assigned to essential projects.

• Play a key role in managing cross-functional teams and partner with business leaders for accounting/financial system implementations, conversions and upgrades
• Drive process improvements through analytical and problem solving skills, data and process flow mapping, functional business requirement gathering, data extraction and conversion
• Directly manage project delivery from project scoping and definition to successful execution
• Manage day-to-day execution of project implementation: planning, tracking, documentation and status updates for the project to various stakeholders
• Define approach, tools and processes used to support accounting/financial system post implementation
• Manage reporting and resolution of issues, risks and dependencies
• Lead the design, documentation, implementation and continuous improvement of operational policies, processes and systems across the organization
• Translate business problems/requirements into a technology (automated) solution
• Cross-train within the accounting department’s various responsibilities
• Serve as a department resource on technical accounting issues, GAAP and related updates
• Assist other departments and committees as directed by the Assistant Controller or Controller
• Perform other duties as required by the Assistant Controller or Controller


• Accounting degree / CPA preferred, and /or Big Four experience
• Four to six years’ experience in a staff accounting position
• Project management experience; including actions of developing project plans, authoring project charter, scope, project management approach, management plans, cost estimates, schedule and/or work breakdown
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite / experience with Sage Intacct ideal
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Provide objectivity and respect confidences when dealing with sensitive issues
