Electrical Engineer, Supervisor

Accretive Solutions’ Executive Search practice has been engaged by one of its clients to recruit an Electrical Engineer, Supervisor to join their team, located in Detroit, MI.

The Electrical Engineer, Supervisor will be responsible for planning and conducting work requiring judgement in the evaluation, selection and adaption or modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. This position will be responsible for devising new approaches to problems and will perform assignments with instructions as to the general results expected. The individual in this position will direct and work with a crew engaged in construction, maintenance, repair, and operation of the district energy system.


• Must set a good example for other employees by adhering to and administrating Company policies.
• Initiate and implement systems performance improvements.
• Initiate studies and propose projects to solve engineering problems.
• Write test procedures for and investigate new technologies, materials and equipment.
• Train, lead, work with and supervise assigned crew members.
• Conduct daily Job Hazard Assessments (JHA) and train, correct and communicate problems to employees.
• Maintain a safe and clean workspace including vehicle, shop and job site.
• Must know, practice and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work being performed. Furthermore, must write Safe Job Procedures when requested.
• Notify Plant Operations prior to operating any breakers, switches and electrical equipment.
• Report damage or alterations to other utilities, damage to Company equipment or damage to properties of others to site manager. Document same on company incident report.
• Immediately report equipment safety and repair problems and make repairs when feasible.
• Monitor jobs and communicate with site manager. Gather and check materials needed for your job and report any deficiencies to the site manager.
• Inspect Company vehicles prior to operation to maintain safe operation and avoid trouble and delays during scheduled work.
• Complete all paperwork on time such as (but not limited to) time sheets, logs, daily reports and any other report requested.
• Promote and support management decisions and business philosophies to employees.
• Be willing to fill and assume duties of the site manager when so directed.
• Must participate in employee reviews and the interviewing/hiring of new employees.


• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology
• Must possess an ability to analyze and recommend solutions to complex job-related problems.
• Must be able to make sound engineering decisions under limited time constraints.
• Must possess an ability to develop models and analyze complex data to recommend improvement programs/techniques/solutions.
• Must be able to work well with others, communicate instructions clearly and supervise others on projects (demonstrated leadership skills).
