High Voltage Master Electrician

Accretive Solutions’ Executive Search practice has been engaged by one of its clients to recruit a High Voltage Master Electrician to join their team, located in Detroit, MI.

The High Voltage Master Electrician will be responsible for successfully installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems including high voltage. This position will also be responsible for ensuring that electrical systems are safe and running efficiently and will be required to draw up plans, apply for permits, lay wires, and participate in inspections.


• Knowledge of National Electric Code and best practices. All work must remain in compliance with the national Electric Code.
• Knows OSHA standards, company safety programs and policies relative to the installation and repair of electrical systems.
• Enforces safety standards.
• Install new or existing electrical systems. The Master Electrician may design or assist in the electrical design process.
• Perform high voltage maintenance including switch gear in support of operations up to 13,200 volts.
• Carries out verbal or written operating orders and instructions of Site Manager.
• Inspects and tests components of electrical system.
• Ensures that all necessary materials are available and arrive at the job site.
• Monitors the performance of all equipment, gauges and charts in the powerhouse, chilled water plant and buildings; records statistical data concerning plant operations; maintains, operates, repairs and replaces equipment as necessary.
• Maintains and repairs malfunctions at the powerhouse, chilled water plant and buildings; repairs gauges, pumps, filters and other controls and equipment.
• Must be able to find the root cause of issues and think logically about solutions.
• Reads and interprets operating orders, blueprints, schematics and sketches, etc.
• Must be able to use an array of tools and diagnostic devices to service and install electrical parts.
• Inspects assigned plant equipment for efficiency and safety. Looks for defects in equipment, faulty operating, poor housekeeping, fire hazards, unsafe working conditions, etc., and takes corrective action as necessary. Troubleshoots assigned plant equipment. Recommends and assists in developing changes in operating procedures.
• Accepts or rejects (as delegated by Site Manager) new, rebuilt, or repaired equipment for services.
• Keeps plant Site Manager and other operators informed of status of equipment and conditions and prepared repair requests as needed.
• Oversee the work of apprentices and journeyman.
• Uses computer terminal to process work request/work orders to obtain and enter information the performance of maintenance duties.
• Assists other vendor representatives with the repair of plant equipment as needed.
• Must know, practice and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work being performed. Furthermore, must write Safe Job Procedures when requested
• Quickly respond to emergency call outs.


• High School Graduate or GED
• Master Electricians License in Michigan required
• 5+ years in the electrical trade, including high voltage up to 13,200 volts
