Inventory Control Specialist (Irving)

Accretive Solutions’ Executive Search Practice, now a part of RGP, has been engaged by an excellent Fortune 500 company to recruit an Inventory Control Specialist to join their team, located in Irving. They are considering 4+ year candidates with a combination of inventory operations in the field or inventory accounting, with some audit/quality testing, and cost reduction/process improvement experience. Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, and strong Excel and Access skills. CPA, SOX, and Six Sigma are a plus. The company is growing quickly, has a great culture, and excellent benefits. Travel 25-35%. Salary range $80-85K. Only local candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities: 

Self-starter who will monitor and drive improvement of inventory control environment across the distribution center network through the development of strategic initiatives and policies. Role requires on-going collaboration with distribution center operations teams, regional operations management and various centralized groups. Identify risks and opportunities stemming from new business initiatives and natural evolution of operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
• Development and production of performance metrics, reports, and scorecards
• Update existing and develop new SOPs (standard operating procedures) based on departmental observations and data analysis
• Perform detailed inventory control audits applying company’s operations standards and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
• Identify control risks through analysis of transactional data and develop mitigation/remediation plans to address
• Provide written recommendations to operations management of observed opportunities (control execution, efficiency, etc.)
• Provide training to distribution center management and staff on key operational control processes
• 25% to 35% travel, but will be a little heavier to start. Travel will be 35-50% for the first three months. Exposure to multiple distribution centers and to audit modules repetitively is the best way to learn.

Requirements: 

Education/Certifications Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance
• CPA
• Business experience required
• 4+ years accounting/auditing experience
• Business experience preferred
• 2+ years of managerial experience

Additional Knowledge & Skills
Required:
• Thorough knowledge of accounting policies, practices, and systems.
• Excellent written, verbal and decision-making skills.
• Reconciliation, research, root cause analysis and process improvement
• Intermediate spreadsheet skills

Preferred:
• Strong knowledge of inventory control systems
• Previous distribution operations audit experience
• Intermediate database skills
• Knowledge of distribution, distribution systems and applications, basic fundamentals of asset management preferred
• SAP knowledge preferred
• Six Sigma methodology with Green Belt training
