IP Patent Paralegal

RGP/Accretive Solutions is seeking a Field Consultant with strong, demonstrated experience as a Project coordinator with Patent experience. Reporting to the Manager of IP Operations, this role will assist attorneys in the delivery of legal services related to Intellectual Property. They will manage the preparation, filing, prosecution, and maintenance of domestic and foreign patent applications. They will play a central role in keeping the IP operations/activities organized, on track and moving forward. Requires extensive knowledge and understanding of the rules of the USPTO, PCT and other international patent offices and the complexities of patent prosecution in general.


• Preparing patent application documents such as provisionals/utility/design applications, ADS, IDS, Power of Attorneys, drawings, assignments, declarations and others
• Filing patent applications and responsive documents via EFS-web with the USPTO
• Prepare Amendments templet shell for Response to Office Action, RCEs
• Reviewing communications from the USPTO, noting due dates on docketing
• Follow up on instructions given to outside counsel
• Manage quality control of outside counsel patent prosecution docketing
• Review docket for deadlines; understand docket and deadlines and action needed; inform responsible lawyer(s) of deadlines
• Perform searches using electronic research tools such USPTO and WIPO databases
• Communicate with USPTO, attorneys, paralegals, liaisons, foreign associates and staff
• Compile and maintain documents, utilizing databases and spreadsheets
• Prepare a variety of reports including status and docket reports


• Bachelor's degree with coursework in business administration, or related field and/or paralegal certificate.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of significant patent paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Task-oriented with excellent sense of prioritization, highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and to work under pressure.
• Ability to effectively work within a cohesive team and with a wide range of internal and external clients and constituents.
• High degree of professionalism, with demonstrated credibility, integrity, strong work ethic, and record of successful and well-executed and collaborative problem solving.
