RGP/Accretive Solutions’ Executive Search practice has been engaged by one of its clients to recruit a Sr. Accountant- Payroll and Benefits to join their team, located in the Greater Detroit area.


• Ensure that accounts within area of responsibility are analyzed; perform monthly accounting and reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with USGAAP guidance and internal policies.
• Analyze Balance Sheet and Income Statement activity for areas of responsibility, identifying variances and explaining underlying business reasons for changes.
• Perform analysis and accounting for payroll and employee benefits related accounts, including but not limited to: payroll, paid time off, management incentive plans and other bonus accruals, expat accounting, executive and deferred compensation plans, life insurance and fringe benefits allocations.
• Provide support for postretirement, postemployment, various miscellaneous health and dental, and other employee benefits accounting.
• Investigate and resolve issues and respond to inquiries, ad-hoc requests of internal and external business partners and consultants.
• Provide support to external and internal auditors related to the above.
• Maintain related process documentation.
• Assist in ad-hoc requests and continuous improvement activities.
• Support implementation of new accounting requirements and business initiatives.
• Participate in cross-functional implementation teams to ensure proper consideration from an accounting perspective of process changes or projects related to areas of responsibility and new business initiatives or accounting requirements.
• Research and apply technical accounting guidance under USGAAP, as needed.
• During month-end close, the team member may need to work the required hours to complete assignments within required corporate deadlines
• Adherence to deadlines, especially during the monthly and quarterly close process is critical
• Ability to handle pressure and stress appropriately while managing conflicting priorities
• Job does not require travel in general; however, limited travel may occur to meet business needs.


• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field
• 3+ years of related experience
• CPA with public experience is preferred
