State and Local Income Tax Senior Analyst

Our client has an immediate need in their state and local income tax compliance group. This position would report to the state and local tax manager and assist in all areas of the state and local tax department. This role requires previous state and local income tax experience or relevant public accounting experience.
Must have at least 3-5 years of experience preparing separate state and local income tax returns. This includes preparing and reviewing tax adjustments for the state and local income tax returns, preparing and reviewing tax package request to gather the necessary information to complete assigned tax returns.


•Preparing State and Local Tax Compliance
•Preparing book to tax adjustments
•Preparing and reviewing tax packages information questionnaires submitted to the business controllers
•Overall support to tax department
•Prepare all aspects of state and local income/franchise tax compliance process
•Review federal tax filing positions that will effect state compliance process.
•Research and interpret new state and local tax law changes to determine impact on company
•Assist with state income/franchise tax exams, defend positions taken on open returns, evaluate likelihood of sustaining positions taken, and review recognition and measurement of reserves for uncertain tax positions •Forecast income/franchise tax expense and track results against forecast
•Preparation of income/franchise tax reserves and evaluation of reserve needs
•Coordinate projects with outside tax advisers
•Assist with compliance with various state and local tax credits and incentives


•Minimum of three years’ experience in income tax preparation, with an emphasis on corporate income tax, in either a Fortune 500 company or a national/regional public accounting firm
•US Federal Income Tax and/or State and Local Tax background
•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
•Able to creatively research, analyze, and conclude specifically assigned US tax issues with minimal supervision
•Able to work closely with groups within a corporate structure including finance, legal, operations, etc.
•A team-player attitude with a willingness to assist other accounting team members with tasks as needed

CPA preferred, but not required Masters in Accounting, Finance or Taxation is preferred
Ideally has CorpTax experience
